MOST RECENT SERMON

In this mother's day sermon Rev. Dr. Barbara Smith-Mustin delivers an inspiring message to mothers and others encouraging us to do as Mary did when we're lacking, which is to turn to Jesus, trust in him, and watch the transformation take place.

SERMON SERIES

JOY IN THE JOURNEY

In Joy In The Journey, Rev. Dr. Kenneth C. Curry, Jr. unpacks the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Philippians, guiding the congregation through a rich and deeply practical exploration of Christian joy. Preached from all four chapters of Philippians, the series emphasizes how joy is not dependent on circumstances, but is rooted in Christ-centered living, faithful partnerships, spiritual maturity, humility, and trust in God’s provision.
No matter what you're going through — pain, uncertainty, weariness, or loss — JOY is still possible. Not the kind of joy that fades when things go wrong, but the kind that holds you together when life falls apart.

WHO ARE WE?
WE ARE FRIENDSHIP CHURCH

Who are we as a church? Who are you as a believer? What does it really mean to follow Jesus—beyond just attending on Sundays?
In this 6-part series, Rev. Dr. Kenneth C. Curry, Jr. passionately unpacks the identity, calling, and mission of Friendship Baptist Church—and by extension, what it truly means to be a Christ follower. Drawing from Scripture and the church's mission statement, this series is both a theological foundation and a practical guide for how believers live out their faith together in the body of Christ.
Each message answers the critical question: "Who Are We?", and reminds the congregation that being the church isn’t just about where we worship, but how we walk, work, witness, and worship together—always centered on Christ.

A TIME FOR WONDER

A Time for Wonder invites us to lean in with childlike faith, reignite our hope, and open our hearts to the miraculous ways God is still moving. Through this Advent series, Rev. Dr. Curry leads us to see not just the beauty of the Christmas story—but the personal, powerful truth that God still intervenes, still speaks, and still brings light in the darkest places.

ACTS-MOVEMENT, MOMENTUM, & MINISTRY.

In an age where many feel spiritually stagnant or unsure of how to serve, “Acts – Movement, Momentum, and Ministry” reminds us that the same Spirit who moved through the early Church is still at work in us. This series calls us back to the basics—Spirit-filled ministry, Gospel-centered mission, and unwavering faith.

STEWARDSHIP 2024

In a world driven by consumption and control, "Stewardship 2024" reminded the people of God that everything we have—our time, talents, and treasures—belongs to Him. This powerful four-part series challenged the Friendship Church family to view giving and stewardship not as burdens, but as bold expressions of faith, trust, and obedience.
Through the teachings of Jesus and the wisdom of Scripture, each message built a theological and practical foundation for what it means to live as faithful stewards—managing God's gifts with Kingdom purpose.

COME THOU
ALMIGHTY KING

“Come Thou Almighty King” isn’t just about remembering a baby in a manger—it's about welcoming the reigning King into our hearts and world today. Each message stirs our anticipation, anchors our hope, and challenges us to live in the light of His reign.
